From Jim’s Heart — Equipping Yourself to Lead

The best way you can help lead your family is to make sure you are growing spiritually. This growth will give you the wisdom and strength you need for leading your children. You can make this happen by.

  • Reading the Bible daily so you are “complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:17).
  • Finding role models to emulate. “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17 niv).
  • Avoiding negative influences. “Evil company corrupts good habits” (1 Corinthians 15:33).
  • Avoiding tempting situations. “Flee.youthful lusts” (2 Timothy 2:22 ).
  • Abiding in Christ so you can bear much fruit (John 15:1-8). This means praying to God, depending upon Him, and actively obeying Christ.

God, please transform my family by transforming me.
Speak to me through Your Word, through Your Spirit, and through godly people.
Make me the parent my family needs. Amen.

I saw this from a facebook post that my friend had. It really spoke to me. I have been struggling with trying to influence my husband to be the Christian Leader of our home. When we first started dating that was the first thing on his list was going to church, reading our devotions and bible together. That’s what made me fall in love with him to begin with. Then we got caught up with the party crowd and our marriage went downhill. God became the least important person in our lives, but I eventually woke up. I was tired of the partying and drinking and I was getting older and I wanted to start a family. I’m 4 months pregnant now and all I want is for my family to be where we need to be in God’s eyes. And that’s staying in church and getting our children in church so that one day they will accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. But my husband loves his hanging outs and his drinking buddies, and he loves drinking. And I’m scared for me and my child’s well being because of this. I would like for my husband to be the Christian leader in our home and to do the right things for our family and to lead his child in the way he should go by doing the right things and obeying God and not give into temptation which my husband is prone to do many of times with drinking. He doesn’t know when to stop when he starts. It’s not an every day thing, just on the weekends but thats enough for me. Please help me in praying for our family. I invited my husband to like your page on facebook and I plan on giving him a Christian book for father’s day about dad’s. Thank you :)
