Becoming a Woman After God's Own Heart

"I have found David...a man after My own heart, who will do all my will."
Acts 13:22

From Elizabeth's heart...to yours....

Here's a truth that keeps me going: Every new year is a new beginning...but so is every morning. Our days don't always go as planned, do they? In fact, I'm tempted to think they never go as planned! But after every crazy, bad, or horrendous day, two verses encourage me. Both are from the psalms. One is Psalm 118:24, "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." The other is Psalm 30:5, "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." My yesterday went great...until noon. And then it completely unraveled. So what did I do? When I finally got to bed, I set the alarm for one hour earlier than usual so I could start my new day today with extra time with God, in planning, in prayer, in rejoicing...and start all over again. It all helps me to move on with hope into my bright new day. On a totally different subject - but a subject that can help your days go better - here's a devotion about good thinking!

"She must be mad at me considering how she acted at lunch." Have you wondered about people's motives? Here's some good advice: Stop second-guessing other people's ideas about you. I can't begin to tell you the peace I experienced in relationships once I stopped wondering and worrying about what others were thinking. Rather than looking for fault in things you've said or done, spend that energy learning from God. Proverbs 28:1 is a good place to begin: "The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion." My paraphrase? "If you haven't done anything wrong, don't act like it." Boldly go forward, not fearing what people will think. This courageous attitude will liberate you to generously and joyously love and serve others. You'll be amazed at the peace you'll feel and the conflicts you avoid by not assuming what other people are thinking.

Until tomorrow, from my heart to yours,

Elizabeth
