Getting to Know Every Book in the Bible
Getting into the Bible and
having a quiet time
Reading your Bible causes you to grow in Christlikeness. It makes you more like Jesus. How does this happen? It’s an inside job! The Bible actually changes your heart.
So what can you do to make sure you don’t miss out on the miracle of a spiritual workout every single day? Here are a few steps you can take to get started—or help you keep going—in growing your love for the Bible. When you take these steps each day, you are making the choice to make time with God a priority—your #1 priority!
Step 1: Read it. I could add, just read it. Start anywhere. The only wrong way to read the Bible is not to read the Bible.
Step 2: Study it. Ask someone to help you find ways to dig deeper into your Bible.
Step 3: Hear it. Make sure you go to church and get to youth group to hear God’s Word taught and explained so you can better understand it.
Step 4: Memorize it. There is no better way to live God’s way than to have His Word in your heart and mind...and do it! If it’s there, He will use it in your life.
Step 5: Desire it. You already know the importance of physical food. Well, you need to see the spiritual food of the Bible as having that same importance...only greater! As Job declared, "I have treasured the words of his mouth God’s teaching more than my daily bread" (Job 23:12).
